1inch, a leading decentralised exchange aggregator, has launched an upgraded Swap API that supports tokenised real-world assets (RWAs), addressing one of the sector's primary challenges around liquidity fragmentation.
The enhanced API enables eligible users to access RWAs through the 1inch decentralised application and wallet, though access remains restricted for users in the United States and other designated regions. The functionality is also available to partner platforms through the 1inch DevPortal, with Trust Wallet becoming the latest major DeFi platform to integrate the technology.
The development represents 1inch's attempt to tackle liquidity constraints that have historically limited RWA adoption. By leveraging the company's aggregation technology, users can swap tokenised real-world assets with similar efficiency to native cryptocurrency transactions.
The initiative has been facilitated through a partnership with Ondo Finance, a liquidity provider specialising in tokenised real-world assets. Ondo recently announced the launch of Ondo Global Markets, which provides non-US users with jurisdiction-specific access to over 100 tokenised assets on Ethereum, with plans to expand to more than 1,000 assets by year-end.
RWA transactions on 1inch are processed through resolvers - professional market makers designed to ensure secure trading experiences. The company has extended API access to its existing integration partners, enabling their eligible users to access RWAs through their respective platforms.
Trust Wallet users now have access to what the platform describes as gas-free, MEV-protected RWA trading through the expanded integration. All tokenised assets within the 1inch ecosystem are subject to risk controls including token vetting, classification filters, and jurisdictional restrictions.
"Tokenization of real-world assets is tomorrow's tech being adopted today. At 1inch, we've overcome one of the biggest challenges to this shift, which is fragmented liquidity. By upgrading the 1inch Intent-based Swap API, we're now enabling efficient, jurisdiction-aware access to tokenised assets through the 1inch ecosystem, helping reduce barriers and expand access where permitted."
— Sergej Kunz, co-founder of 1inch
"The 1inch Swap API plays an important role in powering Ondo Global Markets by enabling efficient on-chain execution for our tokenised assets, helping us deliver deep liquidity and competitive pricing. This integration strengthens our ability to connect traditional assets with DeFi infrastructure, expanding access and creating a more inclusive financial system."
— Ian De Bode, Chief Strategy Officer at Ondo Finance
