Deutsche Bank has launched card acquiring services for Bolt, one of Europe's major mobility platforms, across both the European Union and the UK, marking a significant expansion of the German bank's payment processing capabilities.
The service operates through Silverflow's cloud-based payment infrastructure, following a strategic partnership announced between Deutsche Bank and Silverflow in June 2024. Under the arrangement, Deutsche Bank serves as the card acquirer, providing the regulatory framework required to process card transactions through Visa and Mastercard networks.
Bolt utilises Deutsche Bank's membership with the card schemes to route payments through Silverflow's platform. The card schemes settle funds with Deutsche Bank, which then handles payouts to the mobility platform.
Kilian Thalhammer, Head of Merchant Solutions at Deutsche Bank
"This partnership marks another milestone in our strategy to deliver modern, scalable, and regulatory-resilient payment solutions for platform businesses across Europe," said Kilian Thalhammer, Head of Merchant Solutions at Deutsche Bank.
The collaboration with Bolt forms part of Deutsche Bank's broader strategy to expand its presence in the European payments sector. The initiative also aligns with the bank's recent partnership with Silverflow, aimed at modernising card processing infrastructure and enabling new acquiring models for digital platforms.
Jüri Laur, Director of Product, Commerce at Bolt
Jüri Laur, Director of Product, Commerce at Bolt commented: "Working with Deutsche Bank and Silverflow has allowed us to significantly streamline our payment operations across Europe and the UK. We now benefit from a stable, scalable infrastructure that aligns perfectly with our growth ambitions, and delivers a smoother payment experience for our customers."
The card acquiring solution became operational in April 2025, with full integration across Visa and Mastercard's scheme infrastructure. The launch reflects a broader industry trend towards cloud-based payment systems that balance regulatory compliance with operational efficiency for digital platforms operating across European markets.
