A US federal court in the Southern District of New York has dismissed all claims brought against Binance under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), ending a lawsuit in which 535 plaintiffs alleged the cryptocurrency exchange provided material support linked to 64 terrorist attacks.

In a 62-page decision, the court found that plaintiffs had failed to establish any of their central allegations, ruling that Binance did not assist terrorists, did not associate itself with terrorist attacks, did not participate in or seek to advance those attacks, and did not engage in any conspiracy with terrorist organisations.

Eleanor Hughes, General Counsel, Binance said:

"This dismissal is a complete vindication of all false allegations. The court has unambiguously rejected the false and damaging narrative that Binance assisted terrorists. We have always maintained that these claims were without merit, and today's ruling confirms that. We will continue to defend ourselves aggressively against any litigation or reporting that misrepresents who we are and how we operate."

The court has allowed plaintiffs 60 days to file an amended complaint, in light of a recent appellate decision. Binance stated it is confident that no amended pleading will be able to cure the fundamental deficiencies identified by the court.

Binance is a global blockchain ecosystem and is the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume and registered users. The exchange is used by more than 310 million people across more than 100 countries.
