Deus X Capital Secures World's First Hybrid USD/Bitcoin Insurance Policy With Soter

Deus X Capital has secured what is described as the world's first hybrid USD/Bitcoin denominated insurance policy through a partnership with digital asset insurer Soter Insure, offering a new solution to risk management in the cryptocurrency sector.
The insurance product offers Directors & Officers and Professional Indemnity coverage denominated in USD, alongside crime coverage denominated directly in Bitcoin. The structure aims to eliminate currency risk by providing protection in the same asset that clients seek to protect, regardless of market fluctuations. According to the press release issued by Deus X Capital today, “The novel utilisation of BTC for loss of digital assets eliminates currency risk and provides true, asset-aligned protection, ensuring that policyholders are indemnified against the catastrophic risks of theft and loss in the asset they seek to protect, regardless of market fluctuations.”
Soter Insure is a provider of specialised insurance solutions for digital asset institutions, backed by institutional investors including Galaxy Digital, Brevan Howard Digital, and Further Ventures. The company positions the product as addressing the critical lack of adequate insurance within the digital asset space, which it identifies as a significant barrier to broader institutional participation.

Tim Grant, CEO of Deus X Capital and Chairman of Deus X Pay, said: "Finding the right insurance coverage has for a long time been a challenge for financial services operators in the crypto space. We are delighted to partner with Soter who are leading the charge on providing the insurance products that are tailored to the needs of our portfolio companies like Deus X Pay."
The insurance arrangement extends to Deus X Capital's portfolio companies, including regulated payment provider Deus X Pay, and will be made available to Virtual Asset Service Providers globally. The policy allows premiums to be paid in digital assets and provides protection against cryptocurrency theft and loss.
Henson Orser, CEO and Founder of Soter Insure, said: "As regulatory framework and clarity comes into focus globally, we are thrilled to provide insurance products that better fit compliant service providers in the digital asset space and encourage broader adoption generally."
The development addresses ongoing challenges in the digital asset insurance market, where traditional policies have struggled to accommodate the unique risks and characteristics of cryptocurrency operations. The hybrid structure represents an attempt to bridge conventional insurance frameworks with the specific needs of digital asset businesses.
Deus X Capital is a specialist investment and operating company focused on private equity, venture capital and enterprise opportunities in capital markets, fintech and digital assets sectors. The firm has more than $1 billion in assets under management and operates across the financial technology sector.
Deus X Pay operates as a regulated provider of institutional stablecoin payment solutions, combining traditional finance infrastructure with digital payment technology. The company focuses on authorisation, clearing, and settlement of cryptocurrency payments for institutional clients.
The insurance product launch comes as regulatory frameworks for digital assets continue to develop globally, with institutional participation in cryptocurrency markets increasing alongside demand for appropriate risk management tools.
