Alfonso Peccatiello, former head of investments at ING Groep NV and founder of The Macro Compass, has announced the upcoming launch of a new global macro hedge fund in partnership with Falcon Investment Management. The fund, named Palinuro Capital, is set to begin trading in January 2025, focusing on opportunities in global interest rates and currencies.
Peccatiello, who previously managed a $20 billion portfolio at ING, has already secured $80 million in soft commitments for the new fund. The team aims to reach $100 million in assets under management by the first quarter of 2025.
The fund's strategy is designed to capitalise on market volatility, particularly in response to central bank policy shifts and macroeconomic uncertainty. Peccatiello's approach combines fundamental analysis with a probabilistic framework, a methodology that has gained him a significant following through his research firm, The Macro Compass.
"Macro volatility is here to stay," Peccatiello stated. "Our global macro hedge fund Palinuro Capital leverages our fundamental and probabilistic approach to identify positive expected value macro ideas. We strive to deliver positively skewed, uncorrelated double-digit returns and plenty of valuable macro insights to our LPs."
This launch marks a significant development for Falcon Investment Management, a London-based alternative investment fund manager established in 2014. The partnership with Peccatiello aligns with Falcon's strategy of offering sophisticated investors access to innovative investment solutions.
Palinuro Capital's launch comes at a time of increased interest in macro strategies, as investors seek ways to navigate complex global economic conditions. The fund's focus on interest rates and currencies positions it to potentially benefit from ongoing economic uncertainties and policy shifts across major economies.
