Hidden Road Netherlands Secures Early MiCAR Licence

Hidden Road Partners' Dutch subsidiary has become one of the first companies to receive a licence under the European Union's new crypto assets regulation, positioning itself as an early mover in the regulated digital assets space.
Hidden Road Partners CIV NL B.V. is among only four firms to secure approval from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) under the Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation (MiCAR), enabling it to provide digital assets services across the European Economic Area.
The licence adds to the company's existing registration as a Crypto Asset Services Provider with the Dutch National Bank (DNB) under EU anti-money laundering rules. The firm also holds an AFM investment firm licence under MiFID legislation, making it unique in holding both MiFID and MiCAR authorisations from the Dutch regulator.
Michael Higgins, International CEO and Global Head of Corporate Development for Hidden Road, said: "Our licenses and registrations around the world demonstrate our commitment to serve our counterparties across traditional and digital assets in a transparent, regulated manner. We welcome the new MiCAR license and embrace the clarity it provides our European clients."
The development follows Hidden Road's broader regulatory expansion, which includes registration as a futures commission merchant and swap firm with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, authorisation from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority as an investment firm, and registration as a crypto asset firm under Britain's anti-money laundering regulations.
The credit network provider indicated it plans to expand its regulatory and product presence in the US, Middle East and Asia in the coming months.
Hidden Road Partners operates as a global credit network for institutions, providing access to traditional and digital markets. The firm specialises in prime brokerage, clearing and financing services.
