Swissquote Adds New Cryptocurrencies
April 21, 2021 - Online trading bank Swissquote has announced today that its clients can now trade Cardano, Filecoin, Maker, Uniswap and yearn.finance, in addition to the 12 leading cryptocurrencies already available to investors. A further four cryptocurrencies will follow at the end of the month: Aave, Algorand, Compound and Cosmos. With a total of 21 tradable virtual currencies, Swissquote is the bank with the most comprehensive offering for cryptocurrency trading in Switzerland.
The cryptocurrencies Cardano (ADA), Filecoin (FIL), Maker (MKR), Uniswap (UNI) and yearn.finance (YFI) are now available for trading and at the end of April, additional cryptocurrencies will be available via Swissquote with Aave (AAVE), Algorand (ALGO), Compound (COMP) and Cosmos (ATOM) being made available for trading. Clients can invest with EUR or USD via their trading account. According to Swissquote, client demand and the liquidity available for trading were the key factors in the selection of these new cryptocurrencies.
Swissquote first offered private clients the opportunity to trade in cryptocurrencies in July 2017, and since then the offering has been continuously expanded.

The cryptocurrency trading business has become an important source of income for the company. In March 2021, Swissquote had CHF 1.8 billion in client crypto assets under custody. Swissquote states that it intends to expand crypto-trading and usage of custodian bank services on an ongoing basis.
