Digital Asset algorithmic trading firm Wintermute has completed its first Request for Quote (RFQ) trade on Finery Markets' institutional crypto trading platform, FM Liquidity Match, which Finery Marlets sees as marking a significant development in institutional crypto trading infrastructure.
The partnership establishes Finery Markets as the only crypto-native Electronic Communication Network (ECN) offering both RFQ and firm order-book execution methods for institutional clients. This hybrid model aims to combine the transparency of order-driven systems with the liquidity benefits of quote-driven trading.
Market data from Finery Markets indicates substantial growth in the sector, with crypto over-the-counter (OTC) spot transactions showing an 89% year-over-year increase in the first nine months of 2024.
Konstantin Shulga, Finery Markets CEO, said: "As a leader in liquidity provisioning, Wintermute was a top choice for introducing the RFQ trading method through our ECN. With the launch of RFQ, we are confident that our unique hybrid trading model offers the best of both worlds, combining the transparency and execution certainty of order-driven systems with the deep liquidity and minimal market impact characteristic of quote-driven models."
Evgeny Gaevoy, Wintermute CEO, stated: "Our partnership with Finery Markets reaffirms our commitment to enabling counterparties to have seamless, reliable access to digital asset markets. By combining our extensive liquidity solutions across hundreds of digital assets with Finery's ECN, we're well positioned to support market participants in achieving higher quality trading and more efficient execution."
Wintermute currently maintains billions in average daily trading volume and provides liquidity across more than 60 centralised and decentralised exchanges. The firm also invests in early-stage Web3 projects and supports traditional financial institutions entering the crypto space.
Finery Markets, established in 2019, operates as a non-custodial crypto ECN serving over 150 institutional clients across 35 countries. The platform recently received SOC 2 Type 1 certification and was recognised in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 competition as one of the top 50 rising stars in 2024.
