      About this event

The Central Bank Payments Conference (CBPC) 2027 takes place on 15–17 March 2027 at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok, Thailand. It is the 11th edition, organised by Currency Research. The 10th edition in Istanbul (31 August–2 September 2026) drew more than 200 delegates from 61 countries; earlier editions were held in Kuala Lumpur (2024) and Paris (2025).

Registration has a reduced-rate category for central banks, commercial banks, regulators, market infrastructures and multilateral institutions, and a standard category for fintechs, payment service providers and consultancies. The 2027 theme is "Payments at a Crossroads – Sovereignty, Technology and the Changing Role of Central Banks". The preliminary programme covers payment sovereignty, retail and cross-border payments, CBDCs, stablecoins and tokenised money, fraud and resilience, with workshops on AI and agentic payments and on cyber and quantum readiness.

Formats include plenary sessions, interactive tracks, roundtables, a research papers session and the full-day Payments Edge Leadership Programme. Gerry Gaetz (former CEO, Payments Canada) and Jean-Michel Godeffroy (former Director General, European Central Bank) are named as conference chairs. 2026 sponsors included Swift, Visa, Coinbase and Montran.
