BestEx Research Group LLC has appointed Charlie Whitlock as Managing Director of Business Development, based in Boston, as the algorithmic execution and measurement solutions provider expands its client-facing operations.
The firm, which specialises in high-performance algorithmic execution and measurement solutions for equities and global futures, has also welcomed Reed Carlson to strengthen its business development capabilities with over a decade of algorithmic execution sales experience.
Whitlock brings more than 20 years of experience in electronic and algorithmic trading to his new role. He most recently served as Head of Americas Distribution at XTX Markets, where he developed institutional and retail trading strategies for the US market.
Prior to XTX Markets, Whitlock led electronic trading sales for the Americas at Credit Suisse, overseeing client relationships for the bank's Advanced Execution Services (AES) platform. His career also includes senior leadership positions at ITG, J.P. Morgan, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he helped scale multi-asset electronic trading businesses.

Carlson's appointment adds further depth to the business development team. He previously held positions at J.P. Morgan, Virtu Financial, and KCG Holdings, bringing experience across algorithmic execution sales.
The strategic hires reflect BestEx Research's focus on expanding its global presence across asset classes and regions whilst deepening existing client relationships. The firm offers execution algorithms through its Algorithm Management System (AMS), which includes strategy customisation tools, simulation capabilities, and transaction cost analytics.
