Digital banking platform Bloomsbury Money secures e-money licence in Jersey

Digital banking platform Bloomsbury Money, the regulated financial services arm of the DMALINK group, has been granted a Money Service Business (MSB) licence by the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC), marking a significant regulatory milestone for the firm as it expands its institutional offering.

The licence, issued under the Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998 (JFSC Entity No: 210054), authorises Bloomsbury Money to operate as a regulated provider of money transmission and electronic money (e-money) services from one of the world's leading Tier-1 financial jurisdictions.

The authorisation coincides with the appointment of Chris Clarke as Head of Compliance, reinforcing the group's growing operational presence in Jersey.

      What the licence covers

Under Jersey law, an MSB designation is a rigorous regulatory classification. It permits the holder to issue electronic money, facilitate money transmission, and operate bureaux de change. To secure the licence, Bloomsbury Money was required to meet the JFSC's capital adequacy, compliance, and conduct standards.

"Securing our MSB licence from the JFSC is a testament to our commitment to regulatory excellence," said the Bloomsbury Money leadership team. "Jersey's legal framework provides the perfect balance of innovation and investor protection. This licence allows us to bridge the gap between traditional banking and the digital future, offering our clients a platform built on the bedrock of Jersey's world-renowned financial regulations."

      Services now available to clients

Leveraging the scope of the new licence, Bloomsbury Money is launching a suite of services aimed at high-net-worth individuals, corporates, and institutional clients:

Multi-Currency IBAN Accounts allow clients to hold, manage, and settle funds in major global currencies through dedicated IBANs, simplifying international treasury operations.

Cross-Border Payments, underpinned by the money transmission authorisation, enable high-speed global transfers with reduced settlement latency.

Institutional FX draws on the DMALINK group's established heritage in foreign exchange, giving clients access to competitive, institutional-grade rates integrated directly into their digital banking dashboard.

A secure digital banking interface provides real-time asset oversight on a 24/7 basis.

Physical and virtual debit card solutions are being rolled out, with credit card facilities to follow, enabling seamless spending across multi-currency balances.

      Why Jersey

Bloomsbury Money's choice of Jersey as its regulatory home reflects the island's political stability, tax transparency, and sophisticated legal infrastructure. As an MSB-regulated entity, the firm adheres to global standards for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT).
