Global crypto exchange KuCoin says it has achieved CryptoCurrency Security Standard (CCSS) certification — a specialised, independently assessed framework for safeguarding cryptocurrency systems — claiming to be the first top-10 exchange to do so.
KuCoin says the milestone expands its portfolio of assurances to four marquee certifications: CCSS, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2025 and SOC 2 Type II, positioning the platform as a security frontrunner and contributing to its $2bn Trust Project to strengthen user confidence and regulatory standing. For users, the company says this translates into tighter controls over asset protection, improved data privacy practices and greater operational transparency.
“Adding CCSS certification to our suite of global standards highlights KuCoin’s leadership in security and user protection… As the industry evolves, KuCoin will continue to lead by example in responsible innovation and compliance.”
BC Wong, CEO, KuCoin
Why CCSS matters: Unlike general infosec frameworks, CCSS focuses on crypto-native risks such as wallet key management, transaction workflows and custody operations. KuCoin frames CCSS as complementary to ISO 27001 (information security management), ISO 27701 (privacy information management) and SOC 2 Type II (independently audited control effectiveness), arguing that the combined set provides broader defence-in-depth for digital-asset platforms.
Founded in 2017, KuCoin serves 40m+ users across 200+ countries and regions, offering 1,000+ digital assets, spot and futures trading, spot and futures trading, a Web3 wallet, institutional services and payments.
