Prime of prime broker 26 Degrees Global Markets has launched Japanese Equity CFDs for its broker clients, after engaging the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) for the redistribution of derived equities data.
The firm says the agreement allows broker clients to trade an expanded range of Japanese Equity CFDs, and makes 26 Degrees one of a small number of prime of primes providing that access via API.
The launch lands during a volatile period for Japanese assets. The Nikkei 225 reached a record high in June before retreating close to 15% from its peak. More recently, and according to Reuters, intervention by the Bank of Japan alongside the US Treasury has driven a sharp rally in the yen, adding a further layer of volatility across Japanese markets.

"Few markets have commanded the same level of attention as Japan over the past year. The combination of a sustained rally, sharp reversals and renewed activity across currency markets has created clear demand from traders for more ways to participate in the Japanese marketFor brokers, that means having the product breadth to respond. Our Japanese Equity CFD offering gives clients access to Japanese Equity CFDs alongside the Index and FX products they already trade through us."- Hiroaki Nagakura, Head of Prime Services, Japan, 26 Degrees Global Markets
The TSE derived data package sits alongside the firm's existing Japan 225 and Japan 2000 Index CFDs and 17 JPY FX pairs. The effect for broker clients is access to Japanese equities, indices and FX through a single API connection, rather than sourcing the equity leg separately.
Nagakura joined 26 Degrees in August 2023 from Rakuten Securities, where he was Managing Executive Officer, and the firm has run a Tokyo office alongside Sydney, Cyprus and London since the rebrand from Invast Global in the same year.
26 Degrees introduced Equity and ETF CFDs to broker clients in 2019. The offering now spans 44 global markets and includes 16 hour trading on US Equity CFDs across the pre-market, regular session and post-market, supported by the Cboe One Feed. The firm says that when 23 hour exchange access becomes available in Q4 2026, its broker clients will be able to trade US Equity CFDs across the full session from day one.
Broker clients can also access an equity execution algorithm suite covering VWAP, TWAP, Percentage of Volume, Auction and Liquidity Seeking strategies.
LiquidityFinder has previously reported on 26 Degrees expanding its US out of hours equity data coverage through the QuantHouse Cboe One Feed, the addition of Gold Pairs CFDs, and the launch of its Pairs CFDs product, which lets brokers show clients a price on any two instruments traded against each other as a single instrument. Before that, the firm expanded its proprietary Index and Commodity CFD range to 40 instruments, adding the Japan 2000 among others.
