Bloomberg Launches FX Options RFQ API On FXGO As Hedge Fund Volumes Jump 75%

      Published: just now

Bloomberg has launched an FX Options RFQ API on FXGO, its electronic foreign exchange trading platform, bringing end-to-end programmatic request-for-quote trading to the buy-side FX options market for the first time.

FXGO forms part of Bloomberg Electronic Markets. The new API allows buy-side traders to run the full RFQ workflow without manual intervention, from submitting a trade request through to receiving competing dealer quotes and completing the deal. It builds on the recently released Python-API FX Options ticket launcher on the same platform.

      What The API Covers

The launch supports vanilla and exotic FX options strategies across both deliverable and non-deliverable currency markets. Clients connect to FXGO's multi-dealer pool of liquidity providers through a single API.

Bloomberg said it introduced the product in response to growing demand from systematic hedge funds and asset managers looking to extend programmatic execution into derivatives, having already automated other parts of their workflow.

      Volume Growth Behind The Launch

The firm reported FX options volumes on FXGO have grown by more than 58% year on year since August 2025, with hedge fund activity up by more than 75% over the same period.

"We've seen rising demand across hedge fund clients on FXGO, and systematic firms are increasingly pushing into FX options, demanding the same end-to-end RFQ automation they have elsewhere in their workflow. The FX Options RFQ API is FXGO meeting that demand, giving buy-side firms complete programmatic execution support across the entire trade lifecycle, backed by the full depth of our global liquidity." - Kat Furber, Global Head FX Trading (FXGO), Bloomberg

FXGO is a multi-bank FX trading solution offering real-time pricing, workflow tools and analytics for price takers negotiating transactions with their bank relationships. It provides streaming or RFQ pricing for spot, outrights, swaps, NDFs, deposits, precious metals and options across a wide range of currency pairs and tenors, alongside access to algorithmic order solutions from more than 30 providers. The platform integrates with third-party order management, treasury management and accounting systems, and supports straight-through processing in a range of formats.

Bloomberg Electronic Markets solutions are used across more than 175 markets, with over 9,000 client firms accessing liquidity from more than 800 dealers globally.

FX options are traded via the multilateral trading facilities (BMTF and BTFE) operated by Bloomberg Trading Facility Limited and Bloomberg Trading Facility BV, and via the market (BTBS) operated by Bloomberg Tradebook Singapore Pte Ltd.

Americans vote on November 3 for all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate. The presidency is not on the ballot, which means any new Congress will still need the President's signature to turn bills into law. Markets care about the midterms less for the laws that follow and more for what changes in oversight, budgets and the regulatory mood of Washington.
