Trading platform cTrader has introduced Market Replay on cTrader Windows, allowing traders to practise, test strategies and review trading decisions using historical market conditions without risking real capital.
The feature recreates previous market sessions using historical price data, allowing users to select a date and time, set a virtual starting balance and choose the speed at which the market replay runs.
Market Replay can operate using minute open-price data or more detailed historical tick data, depending on the level of precision required.

Once a session has been selected, traders can place and manage orders using the same cTrader functionality available during live trading.
The platform's technical analysis tools are also available during a replay, allowing users to assess how a trading approach would have performed during different market conditions.
Playback speed can be adjusted throughout a session. Traders can slow the replay during periods they want to examine more closely or move more quickly through quieter periods.
Users can also add timestamps to mark particular moments during a session, making it possible to return to individual market events or trading decisions later.

The Trade Watch display within Market Replay brings together Positions, Orders and History alongside Equity and Trade Statistics tabs.
This allows traders to review changes in equity throughout a simulated session, analyse profitable and losing trades and compare the results of different approaches.
A Timeline feature connects orders with saved timestamps, allowing individual decisions to be viewed alongside the market conditions in which they were made.
Timestamps can also be exported and imported, enabling traders to recreate and repeat particular historical scenarios.
“cTrader isn’t built only for experienced market participants – it’s just as much for people who are starting out or still building their experience. Trading skills develop through practice, repetition and learning from each decision. That’s what Market Replay is for: a safe space to try different approaches without fear of losing real money and gradually improve decision-making. With every product decision, we continue turning traders’ needs into tools that help them progress – in line with our Traders First™ approach.” - Sergey Borisov, Product Manager at Spotware.
Market Replay can be used by traders preparing to trade live, testing manual strategies or reviewing particular market sessions.
The functionality can also support trading workshops, market reviews and strategy demonstrations by allowing the same historical market conditions to be recreated and examined repeatedly.
cTrader is a trading platform launched in 2010 by trading technology provider Spotware.
According to the company, the platform serves more than 11 million traders and over 300 brokers and prop firms.
Its functionality includes native charting, social trading and cloud execution for trading bots, alongside cTrader Store, which provides access to trading bots, indicators, copy strategies, prop trading challenges and plugins.
In 2026, cTrader also introduced official Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers designed to allow AI agents to interact with trading platform functionality.
For brokers and prop firms, cTrader provides third-party integrations through APIs and plugins as part of its Open Trading Platform model, alongside its cTrader Leads programme.
