Interactive Brokers (Nasdaq: IBKR) has expanded its agentic trading capabilities by adding support for ChatGPT and Grok, building on an ecosystem of AI platform integrations that originally launched with Claude.
The broker, which operates as an automated global trading platform, said clients can now link their existing IBKR accounts to any of the three AI assistants within minutes using their standard IBKR login credentials. No new account is required, and no passwords or API keys are shared with the AI provider.
The expansion also broadens the range of products available for order instructions. Alongside equities and ETFs, clients can now generate instructions for options, futures and futures options through the AI integrations.
Once connected, clients interact via natural language to explore their portfolios, analyse markets and generate order instructions. All instructions are reviewed and approved by the client in a dedicated AI Instructions tab before any order reaches the market.
Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer, Interactive Brokers said:
"We continue to see growing interest from investors in using artificial intelligence as a more natural way to interact with financial markets. Adding ChatGPT and Grok, together with support for options and futures, expands the ways clients can securely connect AI tools to Interactive Brokers for research, analysis and execution. We will continue to broaden the capabilities and asset classes available through these integrations over time."
The integrations are available through certified AI connector marketplaces across the supported platforms. Use cases include identifying options strategies to protect gains on existing positions, placing futures orders using natural language, computing technical indicators such as RSI across a client's holdings, and benchmarking portfolio performance against a broad market index.
The AI integrations sit alongside a suite of existing AI-powered tools within IBKR's own platforms. These include AI Screeners, which allow clients to describe what they are looking for in natural language and receive a ranked list from more than 70,000 global stocks; Investment Themes, which connect a search term such as "clean energy" or "cloud computing" to related companies, industries and trends; Connections, which maps a stock to related companies, sector ETFs, derivatives and event contracts; Ask IBKR, which answers natural language questions about a client's portfolio; and AI News Summaries, which filter and recap market news based on the stocks and sectors held in a client's portfolio and watch lists.
The integrations are available to clients across multiple jurisdictions, including the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
