Weekend gold is now a real commitment, not a marketing feature. Most risk stacks weren't built for it.
What brokers typically have: notional exposure limits, close-only triggers. They react at a fixed number, not to how fast or oddly the position got there.
What's missing: something that flags a position turning dangerous before any limit is crossed — a headline hits at 2am Saturday, gold moves fast, and by the rules nothing's technically wrong yet.
That's the real challenge. Not that nobody's watching — it's whether the risk is actually monitored live somewhere (an LP desk, an after-hours team) or just sitting on static rules.
Worth asking before switching weekend trading on:
1. Is the weekend spread priced for the tail risk, or too tight and costing the desk money?
2. Is a backup LP live for that window, or does one provider pulling back at 2am leave the broker exposed?
3. Is someone actively watching that book, or only rules that react after the fact?
Pricing 24/7 is easy. Risk-managing 24/7 is the part nobody's advertising.
