Last Friday the DAX soared 0.5% to 26,432 as strength from defense, industrials, and financials overshadowed declines in utilities and chip stocks. This surge was driven by favorable Q2 earnings reports, upgrades by analyst expectations in particular outlooks from blue-chip stocks and cooling expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike.
The DAX illustrating strong resilience this week, clutching at 26,000 price region including a challenging resistance levels supported by solid Q2 earnings, reduced energy prices, and a milder U.S. inflation outlook that reduces fears of aggressive Federal Reserve interest rate hikes.
In addition to the economic update, Germany’s Wholesale Prices surged 5.3% year-on-year in July 2026, marking the 20th consecutive month of inflation, driven primarily by soaring energy and raw material costs.

This week with lighter economic calendar is centered on regional inflation data:
With the Eurozone Consumer Price Index and Inflation framework as markets monitor the upcoming European Consumer Price updates. Although German Q2 Gross Domestic Product or GDP surpassed expectations with a 0.2% quarter-on-quarter expansion (0.9% annualized) and industrial output has stabilized, persistent inflation keeps pressure on the European Central Bank (ECB) to balance economic growth with price control. Higher-than-expected regional inflation could trigger tighter reactions.
Following softer U.S. Consumer Price Index and Producers Price Index reports that delayed interest rate-hike expectations, global risk sentiment remains tied to U.S. services Purchasing Managers Index figures including the recent Treasury yield fluctuations. Also, with weak industrial data from China continues to create pressure for trade-dependent and export-heavy sectors within the DAX.
Market momentum is largely driven by defense with Rheinmetall, for energy infrastructure with Siemens Energy, healthcare, and financials such as Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank. On the other hand, cyclical and export-reliant sectors like automobiles such as Volkswagen, Porsche, Daimler Truck and chemicals with BASF face ongoing pressures, resulting in a narrow and polarized market breadth.
