FOMC Meeting Minutes on August 19 will be highly scrutinized as a focal highlight this week for details on the Federal Reserve's divided rate decision. Hawkish tones could pressure tech valuations while dovish signs might drive toward record highs.

Ongoing Middle East tension developments would continue to mandate the energy price and its subsequent implications to the global central bank paths.

      1. For the economic indicators such as the S&P Global Services & Manufacturing PMIs that will serve to measure across the service sector momentum, where steady growth supports the equities, but hotter-than-expected data could trigger inflation concerns.
      2. The upcoming retail reports amid high operational and fuel costs will highlight consumer durability and the potential impact of weak discretionary spending on Nasdaq-100 retail firms.
      3. While sector reports relevant to AI and semiconductor aftershocks with following updates from giants like Applied Materials, though shares pulled back slightly in after-hours trading, the technology sector continues evaluating structural AI demand against high market valuations.
      4. Analog Devices represents the Q2 earnings reports to monitor this week although its direct index weighting is small, Analog Devices influences sector sentiment by serving as a key operational indicator for the broader semiconductor and industrial tech ecosystem through its performance across automotive, industrial, and communications markets.

      1. Due to cooling inflation, we should also monitor the consumer staple stocks such as Walmart, Mondelez, Costco, PepsiCo and Monster Beverage since exhibited subdued, resilient, and minor price shifts characteristic of defensive shares amid wider market fluctuations.
      2. Broad market indices stayed flat as the retail and consumer data came in while those defensive staples held steady against volatile tech stocks, anchoring portfolios while investors reviewed macro data as it would also reflect the consumer spending and rapid rising cost incorporating the labor, transportation and raw materials.
